Every person in his life have experienced problems with the skin and most of these conditions caused by stress and the mind. No wonder science has now developed a psicodermatology investigating links between the skin and mind.

“For decades researchers say that stress is not a factor in acne. In fact, since the longer we know that acne often appears when we’re longing lover,”

Now, some skin experts began to see problems in a holistic skin and psychological healing techniques tried through hypnosis, meditation, and counseling to heal skin problems.

“Studies show that 30-60 percent of patients seeing doctors for his skin problems have emotional problems. The problem is caused by stress not only triggers the skin disorder, but also make medical drugs to be useless,”

One had a skin problem closely related to one’s emotional condition is psoriasis. This disease will cause spots on the skin accompanied by pain. Psoriasis is a disease can survive and appear suddenly, especially if the patient was experiencing emotional stress.

Skin and mind

Scientists long ago discovered that the skin is closely related to the brain and nervous system, which one of his jobs is to manage stress. “The skin and brain have a lot of interconnection. The skin has a lot of nerves and related tissue vascular system,”

He added that the chemicals produced by the brain to respond to stress will wander down to the skin. Emotional imbalances caused by stress due to the demands of work, romance issues, to finance, can cause chemical interference called neuropeptides that will cause interference in the skin.

It can trigger inflammation, widen blood vessels, or increase the production of oil glands that eventually will cause problems in the skin.

“Acne, psoriasis, wrinkles, or dark circles around the eyes will get worse when we are stressed or lack of sleep,”

Research in the year 2007 of the students showed, 23 percent of respondents admitted acne often arise during the exam season. Meanwhile, research conducted in 2002 by British researchers found that psoriasis patients improved after they followed the cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Relaxation method body and mind, like meditation, yoga, and tai chi, is believed to reduce the circulation of neuropeptides. “Managing emotions and thoughts will make the skin more tolerant of a variety of pain, such as allergens, irritants, or cosmetics,”
